A subway train featured with Beijing Central Axis starts operation
On February 4, a special subway train of Beijing Central Axis starts running on the Beijing Metro Line 8, which is a result of cooperation between Beijing Metro and Beijing Central Axis Protection Foundation.
The "Beijing Central Axis Special Subway Train" will run irregularly every day from February 4 to August 4. The exterior of the train is decorated with orange and yellow curves, and posters introducing the landmarks of the Beijing Central Axis are pasted on the train doors. Each carriage is decorated with a historical architecture such as the Drum Tower, Nanluogu Lane and Temple of Heaven......These decorations for the special train were designed by a team from the Beijing Institute of Printing, which comprised more than 20 teachers and students and took nearly six months to finalize the design after more than ten rounds of reviews.
The train incorporates digital content based on the architectural elements of the 15 heritage sites along the Beijing Central Axis. Passengers can scan the QR code to better experience the cultural heritage in a visible, sensible, experiential and touchable way. Besides, passengers can also see the unique landscape design of the axis on the screen doors at Wangfujing Station and Nanluoguxiang Station.
The Beijing Metro Line 8 was fully opened to passengers from the departure station in the north to the terminus in the south at the end of 2021. The Line 8 connects Qianmen, Drum Tower and other cultural landmarks of old Beijing, showing the glorious development of the capital from ancient times to the present day.
