"Hall of the Agriculture Temple" opens where visitors can print the character "Fu" and take it home
On February 2, the Ancient Architecture Museum (or the Temple of Agriculture) held an activity for the public. Visitors can experience printing the character “Fu”(means “blessing” in English), and take it back home.
"Fu" is an auspicious symbol of Spring Festival, and also an important carrier for the inheritance of Chinese civilization. From ancient times to the present, every building in the Temple of Agriculture contains rich cultural connotations. Xue Jian, curator of the Ancient Architecture Museum, told the audience about the "past and present" of the Temple of Agriculture , “In the Ming and Qing dynasties, every spring, the emperor would bring civil and military officials to the temple to hold a sacrificial and ploughing rituals. The ancient people worshiped the God of Agriculture Yandi, who could distinguish various grains, invented plows and hoes, tasted all kinds of herbs, cured diseases, explored markets, brought benefits to the people. Now, we hope this blessing to pass on, so that we opened up this Hall of the Temple of Agriculture where people can take a “Fu.”
In the center of the Hall, a red printing device was particularly eye-catching, and people lined up to experience the printing with a "coupon". Xue Jian introduced that this device is the museum's innovative design, with fusion of engraving printing and cover printing of traditional Chinese cultural elements, delivering "Fu" to the audience. One citizen and her son stood on both sides of the device, respectively, hold both sides of the handle, jointly "stamp" under the giant seal, thus "Fu" handwritten by Emperor Yongzheng was neatly printed on the red paper. The boy said happily: "I want to post it at home, and also print two more to my grandparents, wish them a happy new year."
On the site, the Ancient Architecture Museum also invited a calligraphy teacher to write "Fu" to give to the lucky audience. "During the Spring Festival, we will also carry out a series of activities with Chinese New Year characteristics. I hope that all visitors to the museum can spend a lucky and auspicious year." Xue Jian said that in the future, the Ancient Architecture Museum will carry out the experience of making “Fu” all year round, and is expected to receive 100 visitors per day, so that the audience can bring a “Fu” from the Temple of Agriculture and gift it to their loved ones and friends.
