Launch ceremony of the new book titled The Beijing Central Axis was held at the Chinese Poetry Museum

At the beginning of April, the launch ceremony of the new book titled The Beijing Central Axis was held at the Chinese Poetry Museum. The author Li Jianping shared his story of the book with all attendees at the ceremony.

The Beijing Central Axis published by Sino-Culture Press makes a comprehensive and concise elaborations of 15 heritage sites along the Beijing Central Axis, as well as the symmetrical aesthetic culture, theory of yin and yang and etc.

Bao Yan, president of Sino-Culture Press, said that this book is the essence of Li Jianping’s decades of research on the Beijing Central Axis and is a popular science reading material for the public to comprehensively understand the history, culture, and architectural characteristics of the Beijing Central Axis.

Xie Peng, deputy director of the Capital Library, said this book is not only a profound exploration of the history and culture of Beijing but also a presentation of the close connection between cultural inheritance and urban development. “The publication of this book The Beijing Central Axis can help more people understand Beijing, love Beijing, protect Beijing, and promote the sustainable development of urban culture.”

Li Jianping fully understands the elements including spatial layout, urban texture, historical architecture, ancient trees and water systems along the Beijing Central Axis. As an art teacher, he also drew 37 vivid and interesting illustrations for the book The Beijing Central Axis. Li Jianping said, “This book is the backbone and soul of the great city. When you have time, you can take a walk and take a look, not only to see the inheritance of old Beijing but also to see the development and vision of new Beijing.”
